About Aikido...
Aikido is a Japanese martial art created by Morihei Ueshiba, affectionately known as Ō-Sensei (“Great Teacher”). It was designed not just for self-defense, but as a way to bring people together in harmony. In Aikido, we don’t meet force with force—instead, we blend with an attack and guide it safely away using smooth, circular movements.
Ō-Sensei believed that true strength comes from calmness, awareness, and respect. Aikido’s throws, pins, and joint controls are powerful yet designed to protect both the defender and the attacker. Training helps build confidence, focus, and balance—on the mat and in daily life.
In our dojo, there are no competitions or winners and losers—only training partners learning together. People of all ages and abilities are welcome, and every practice is an opportunity to grow, support one another, and discover the joy of movement.

Our Aikido Lineage and Affiliation
Our dojo is proud to be a member of the United States Aikido Federation (USAF), one of the largest and most respected Aikido organizations in North America. The USAF is officially recognized by the Aikikai Foundation in Tokyo, Japan—the world headquarters of Aikido, founded by Ō-Sensei, Morihei Ueshiba. This connection means our teaching follows the same principles, techniques, and traditions passed down from Aikido’s founder through the generations.
The Aikikai Foundation, also known as Hombu Dojo, is the heart of Aikido worldwide. It oversees instructor certification, rank promotions, and the preservation of Aikido’s philosophy and techniques. Through the USAF’s direct relationship with the Aikikai, our students’ ranks are registered internationally, recognized anywhere Aikido is practiced.
Being part of the USAF also means our instructors maintain high standards of training and continue their own learning through seminars, instructor development programs, and direct connection with senior Aikido teachers from around the world. For our students, this provides not just local training, but a pathway into the global Aikido community—where a rank earned here is respected everywhere.
